Robert Peace announces departure from Needham Market FC

Needham Market Football Club’s Operations & Academy Director, Robert Peace has announced he will be departing the club. Robert, who has worked for the club over the last eight years will be progressing his football career with a professional club. Robert’s destination cannot be announced at the moment but all at Needham Market FC would like to congratulate Robert on his appointment and wish him all the best in the future. Robert will also be stepping down as Youth & Female Chair within the club.

Robert has headed up and developed the Academy over the last eight years and it is now highly regarded within Suffolk and neighbouring counties. Robert introduced the successful youth and female provision within the club alongside leading the funding projects resulting in the 3G pitch and community building totalling over one million pounds. One of Robert’s highlights was winning the 2018 national Buildbase Club Renovation Programme with a prize of £50,000 product bursary, where he was presented the award at Wembley during the 2018 FA Trophy final.

Chairman Keith Nunn says “Robert has proved a great appointment over the last eight years leading the Academy to the position it is now in - both internally, in providing the facilities with which we are blessed as well as the throughput of talented players from junior football to the first team, and, externally in the wider footballing community in Suffolk and the Southern Counties. He is passionate about both the educational and sports aspects of the Academy and will be a great loss to the club and a hard act to follow but I recognise that his move is a step up in his personal development and I will follow his career progress with great interest.”

On the announcement of his departure Robert says “I chose to work in both sport & education to make a positive influence on people’s lives and I believe Needham Market FC & Needham Market Academy have created many positive impacts on a wide range of individuals.

I am very proud of my achievements & will always look fondly upon the club. I highly regard the staff & volunteers at the club, but I have to make special mention to Graham Emmerson, Keith Nunn and Kevin Horlock. Graham has been hugely influential over the last eight years, and I have learnt a lot under his leadership.

I would like to thank all staff, volunteers, professional peers, partners, sponsors, parents, coaches, managers, players & students. In any walk of life, it is important to leave an organisation better than how you found it & I can proudly say I have achieved this. I wish the club & academy all the success in the future.”

Robert’s last day will be on Saturday 4th February and the club are in the process of recruiting an individual to head up the academy.
