MARKETMEN GAIN ALL THREE POINTS

Needham Market come from behind to beat Bromsgrove Sporting 2-1 in a dominant second half.

Tommy Smith, Kyle Hammond and Dan Morphew all returned from injury for Kevin Horlock's side with Byron Lawrence away with the Under-23s and Seth Chambers starting ahead of Jamie McGrath, Callum Page and Reece Harris also started on the bench, while new signing Nico Valentine missed out through injury.

In truth it was an end to end start, but Bromsgrove made their only real first half chance count on 16 minutes. King-Harmes broke through one on one down the right-hand side before chipping the onrushing Garnham.

Needham however had the better chances, and more of the possession and had a good chance on 18 minutes, Jacob Lay broke smartly onto the left-hand byline before cutting it back to Tevan Allen, whose shot was blocked as far as the arriving Dylan Williams to thunder a low volley at goal, which was well saved by the goalkeeper. The rebound then saw a Needham shot deflected behind for a right wing corner which Dan Morphew could only head over.

Seth Chambers was then fed in space 30-yards from goal to drive towards the edge of the box but fired his shot narrowly wide of the bottom left-hand corner on 22 minutes, while the forward then headed agonisingly wide of the bottom near corner from Tommy Smith's audacious left wing cross six minutes later - with a Bromsgrove low effort from the left-hand edge of the box sandwiched in between, albeit comfortably held by Garnham on 24 minutes.

Chambers meanwhile did brilliantly to retain possession on the right-hand side of the Bromsgrove box on 29 minutes, winning two tackles prior to teeing up Tevan Allen to shoot who fired narrowly over.

Great play from the Marketmen then drew an instinctive save from the Bromsgrove keeper to deny Jacob Lay on 33 minutes, after the keeper punched away a dangerous Tevan Allen corner, Kyle Hammond was fed in space on the right wing overlap whose audacious cross in found Lay unmarked whose first time sidefooted volley was instinctively tipped wide of the near post by the keeper.

On the stroke of half-time Needham went close to equalising, a sumptuous low left wing cross cfrom Tommy Smith found Seth Chambers free at point blank range, but couldn't turn his near post effort into the near corner.

Eighteen seconds after the restart, the visiting keeper was already on hand to deny the Marketmen, while great play following a Needham corner saw Keiran Morphew find his namesake and fellow defender Dan Morphew on the edge of the box, the latter then fed Chambers through onto the right-hand side whose low ferocious shot across goal  was well held by the diving keeper.

At the other end, Tee dipped a smartly taken free-kick from distance towards the bottom near, left-hand, corner forcing a brilliant save from the flying Garnham in their only chance of the second half on 55 minutes, while a clever left wing cross saw Jake Dye's far post close range tap in beaten away by the goalkeeper which just agonisingly evaded the arriving Dylan Williams.

Ingram then saw a ferocious shot blocked for Needham just seconds before the home side equalised on 65 minutes. Man Of The Match Jacob Lay hung an audacious left wing cross for Jake Dye at the far post from 5-yards out to leap like a salmon and head home into the roof of the net for his 3rd goal of the season, 1-1.

In quickfire fashion, Needham struck again - this time what proved to be the winner two minutes later. After Seth Chambers appeared to be fouled off the ball in the penalty area, the Marketmen's next attack saw an audacious left wing cross find man of the moment Seth Chambers in the centre whose initial header cannoned back to him off the inside of the far post to bundle home into the bottom left-hand corner for his sixth goal in 2 games and 11th of the campaign, 2-1 Needham.

Chambers almost added to his own and his team's tally on 75 minutes, Kyle Hammond was fed free on the left wing overlap on the byline before cutting back a brilliant ball to the unmarked goalscorer, albeit his shot went agonisingly over the bar.

Chambers then went close again on 83 minutes, this time breaking through one on one down the right wing, but after driving into the box close to the near post could only sidefoot his shot wide of the near post.

Needham travel to Barwell on Saturday (3pm).
