Needham Market come from behind to defeat Barwell 2-1 on the road.
Kevin Horlock's side started with the same team that beat Bromsgrove 2-1 at home on Saturday, which saw Needham move 2 points behind leaders Mickleover in second place.
Both sides started brightly, with the in-form Seth Chambers having the first chance after 2 minutes, the striker received the ball on the left-hand edge of the box before spinning into space well before firing his shot narrowly wide of the bottom near corner.
Five minutes later, Barwell were denied by some great defending from Dan Morphew. A low right wing cross found a man unmarked whose volley was smashed towards the bottom right-hand corner whose effort was blocked off the line by the well placed defender.
Barwell though took the lead on 17 minutes, a left wing corner found George Ward unmarked at close range to head home smartly into the top right-hand corner.
At the other end, Luke Ingram latched onto a great ball over the top before weaving onto the right-hand side of the box before going down, the ball fell to Dylan Williams whose tame shot towards the bottom left-hand corner was easily blocked on 21 minutes.
Three minutes later the Marketmen went close to drawing level, Jacob Lay drove into space down the right wing whose dangerous low ball across the danger area missed 3 red shirts running in, the ball then fell to Tommy Smith at the far post whose fierce shot was blocked bravely off the line at the near post.
Good play from Needham saw the Marketmen create a great chance on 31 minutes, Kyle Hammond was fed onto the right-hand side of the box who did well to squeeze in a shot in a packed area - but for the shot to be blocked.
Dan Morphew then spotted the goalkeeper off the line on the halfway line whose shot was easily caught by the keeper four minutes later, while Needham saw two shots blocked in quick succession on 36 minutes.
First, Luke Ingram saw a shot on the edge of the box well blocked, while Needham recycled possession before seeing Jacob Lay's angled shot on the right-hand side of the box also blocked.
Needham then went agonisingly close 3 minutes before the break, a brilliant low through-ball pierced the defence threading Tevan Allen through down the right wing whose audacious cross picked out Jacob Lay whose header went just over.
Horlock's side however went into the break deservedly on level terms, just before stoppage time. A great ball threaded Seth Chambers through one on one on the right-hand side to evade number5's dangerous sliding tackle from behind before advancing into the box and arrowing a sumptuous, thunderous, strike in off the bottom far post into the net for his 12th goal of the season.
Needham continued to be on the front foot after the restart, Needham Man Of The Match Jacob Lay was threaded through free down the left wing, whose great cross saw Luke Ingram leap highest only for his header to be deflected narrowly wide of the right-hand post for a Needham corner on 51 minutes.
Ingram again went close just after the hour mark, the forward found space to shoot from distance but his low shot looked to be narrowly wide of the bottom left-hand corner as the keeper was on hand to hold anyway.
Needham then found the winner on 64 minutes, a great ball over the top released Luke Ingram through one on one, onside, who looped a brilliant header that crashed in off the underside of the crossbar from outside the box for his seventh goal of the season and 6th in the league.
A great save from the Barwell keeper then denied the goalscorer from adding a quickfire third goal three minutes later. Good passing play from the Marketmen saw Jacob Lay feed Ingram free on the right wing who cut inside smartly onto the edge of the box before hammering a shot towards the bottom near corner, forcing the Derby County loanee to quickly dive down and beat it behind.
Tommy Smith meanwhile heroically put his body on the line to deny an equaliser on 83 minutes, the defender instinctively launched himself down to block a ferocious low shot inside the box.
Needham almost wrapped up all 3 points after going close twice within seconds on 88 minutes, Luke Ingram exploited space, on the right-hand side of the box, to thunder a ferocious low shot at goal, drawing a brave block from the defender with his behind.
A right wing cross then picked out substitute Jamie McGrath a yard out at the far post whose brilliant header was superbly denied by the diving goalkeeper.
Needham went the width of the post away from rubber stamping their victory in the 90+1st minute, substitute Callum Page was found in acres of space to shoot, on the left-hand edge of the box, whose first time shot went just wide of the top far corner.
At the other end two brilliant saves from Needham goalkeeper Marcus Garnham thwarted the hosts from equalising a minute later, the shot-stopper advanced off his line superbly to parry the ball away from a man driving into the box, before the keeper got up quickly to launch himself across his box and smother a low shot behind for a corner.
The Marketmen now move onto a crunch game, in the first of 3 consecutive home games, as the second placed side host third place Leamington (3pm), with a win moving the Marketmen top of the table.
