Needham Market lost their final home match of the League campaign, losing 2-1 to Wormley Rovers.
They had a few half chances but never created a big chance in the first period but the same could be said of Wormley but they took their moments from a curling strike by Emma Nolan and then a late penalty from Emily Schofield.
Chances were again at a premium in the second, but Jae Lewis-Samuel did pull one back and had a golden chance to equalise as Needham almost salvaged a point.
Needham started the better and had the first chance of the game in the opening minute when Megan McCrae-Robinson took a half-volleyed effort from outside of the box, but it drifted wide of the far post.
Wormley looked a threat going forward and ultimately took the lead after 11 minutes when Nolan was given too much space and she curled one into the top right-hand corner from just inside the left-hand area of the box.
Chances were few and far between with Needham having the best as Wormley failed to clear a corner with both Annie Posnett and Chloe Brame denied at close range.
The game went into lull where both sides failed to make an impression of the others goal until the decisive moment of the game in first half stoppage time.
Laura Bloomfield was down for a while and had to come off and in the resultant stoppage time Wormley won a penalty for an apparent foul by Ciera Flatt, which Schofield tucked high into the net.
The second half followed a similar pattern, but they got back into it halfway through the second half as Stalnionis ran her full back and cut back for Lewis-Samuel to tuck in from close range.
Yet again there was a long stoppage for an injury to the away goalkeeper and yet again the long added on time would yield more late drama.
First Lewis-Samuel was in on goal after a beautifully floated ball but as she went to finish, she miscued and got no power on the shot as it rolled harmlessly into the keepers’ arms.
But the battle for a point wasn’t finished there as Stalnionis had two great chances, the first she dragged just wide of the far post from a narrow angle before getting the ball stuck under her feet at the back post from a drilled Keira Topple cross and instead of shooting, she passed and the moment was gone.
That was to be it as the game came to an end and hence brought a disappointing end to the league campaign at Bloomfields.
