BACK TO BACK DEFEATS FOR NEEDHAM MARKET WOMEN

Needham Market have suffered back-to-back home defeats after losing 4-2 to Wroxham in a feisty game at Bloomfields.

There were five goals in an exciting first half as Wroxham stormed into a 3-0 lead thanks to a double from Ellie Gamball before Chelsea Clarke added a brilliant third as they were pegged back by two penalties from Lina Nagib.

Only one goal was scored in the second half as Hannah Fullerwas not flagged offside and converted for a fourth.

It couldn’t have been any worse a start from the home side asa sloppy ball played across the face of the box after only 20 seconds was capitalised on by Gamball.

Needham came back into it, but Wroxham looked a threat on the break and doubled the lead only 10 minutes later when a soft foul was given and Gamball ghosted in at the back post to nudge back across goal into the bottom corner.

And after 20 minutes the away side had a third as a brilliant ball over the top found Clarke and she expertly lobbed Yaz Walford in goal.

The comeback began immediately as Leilah Gooding was fouled and Nagib stepped up to convert, and it wouldn’t be the last one as she was fouled at the end of the half and stepped up again to make it 3-2 to the visitors at half time.

Needham came out strong in the second half with Lois Balfour going close from an early free kick.

But instead of taking the game to Wroxham the momentum was lost and it became very scrappy and tight.

Ellie Rossiter came close but her shot just didn’t rebound to a Needham player and then as the half started to enter the final third, substitute Lucy Loomes had a powerful drive held.

The game was killed in the final 10 minutes as a tight offside call went against Needham and Fuller raced in to tuck into the net.

A bad day was compounded further as Jodie Sharpe went down off the ball and had to be stretched off with what looks like a bad leg injury after already losing Nicole Pannifer in the warm up - that led to a debut by youngster Lexi Pryke, who performed well regardless of the scoreline.
