Academy Graduate returns to NMFC

Bloomfield’s welcome back a familiar face as Finlay Shorten signs for the U23 three years after graduating from Needham Market Academy.

James Mant, NMFC U23 Manager said: “We are all really pleased that Finn has agreed to come and sign for us, he’s a really good goalkeeper - who we know a lot about as he came through the academy a few years ago.”

“He has all the strengths of someone which we look for in his position, a great character to have around our changing room and has a real passion for the game – so I’m really looking forward to seeing the benefits that he will bring to our group on and off the pitch.”

Finlay Shorten said: “I am beyond pleased to be back here at Needham, I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t missed the club as a whole, but especially the level of coaching that I’ve already re-witnessed since being back.

The enthusiasm from the young lads who are on their BTEC journey, is exactly how I was, it’s also been very refreshing to see. I’ve learnt a lot in my time away from Needham and I’m more than ready to pass the advice and knowledge I’ve attained, on to the younger lads I’ll be playing & training with.“

”All thanks to James Mant and Rob Peace for making it an easy decision to come back, I look forward to working with their excellent standards both on & off the pitch! This club not only has a tight-knit community which I’ll be looking to impress, but it’s also an amazing football club and even better place for young players and individuals to develop their skills further as footballers as well as people. Buzzing to be back!“

In addition to signing for the U23, Finlay will also train with the first team on a weekly basis and provide as cover for Marcus Garnham.
