Lower league opposition breeze past Needham
Needham were dumped out of this seasons FA Trophy by Ryman North side Brentwood Town. Despite an earlier penalty miss, the hosts still raced into a 3-0 lead at the break, with The Reds’ performance well below par.
Richard Wilkins made two changes from Tuesdays victory at Lowestoft Town. Jamie Griffiths and Diaz Wright replacing Kieran Turner and the suspended Adam Mills.
Matt Price was a constant thorn in the Needham side and was instrumental in a dominant Brentwood display.
22| The blues did have the ball in the net, but it was to be ruled out for offside. However, two minutes later the deadlock was broken thanks to Connor Martins free header at the far post.
32| After Jake Dye was cautioned for a shirt pull inside the penalty area, Price struck the crossbar from 12 yards and the danger was cleared.
On 35 minutes, Andrew Freeman scored to make it 2-0.
45| Price added a third goal on the stroke of half time with a back heel into the bottom corner.

The visitors did improve after the interval and reduced the arrears on 66 minutes. Diaz Wright’s strike taking a big defection which wrong footed goalkeeper Anthony Page.
Ezekiel Bademosi struck the crossbar for The Town, before matters were to go from bad to worse. Substitute Armani Schaar was shown a straight red card for a challenge and subsequent fracas on 83 minutes.
