ANOTHER WIN FOR THE MARKETMEN

Needham Market moved within goal difference of the play-offs after Seth Chambers' late winner earned a third straight win in a 2-1 home victory over Barwell.

Tom Rothery made one change to Monday's win at AFC Sudbury, Marcel Lewis dropped to the bench after going off due to an injury, Ollie Saunders starting in his place.

Jarvis gave Barwell an early lead, which stood until the 56th minute when Myles Cowling thundered home the equaliser, after great play from Chambers and Neal.

Chambers at the time moved Needham into fifth, turning home Tommy Smith's inviting ball on a plate, though results elsewhere pushed the Marketmen down to sixth at the final whistle.

Kyle Hammond (3') drove forward, exchanging a neat one-two with Joe Neal, but just lost his footing as he looked to shoot from just outside the area.

Barwell, fighting relegation, broke the deadlock in the seventh minute, captain Daniel Jarvis was fed in space from a low ball across from the right wing to wrap home into the bottom far corner.

Luke Ingram, fresh from Monday's hat-trick, glanced Kyle Hammond's excellent 12th minute right wing corner towards the far corner, only for goalkeeper James Carr to catch.

Needham continued to arguably have the better of the play, Ingram (18') looked to latch onto a great through-ball into the area, but for Carr to race off his line and catch the low pass.

After Ingram was forced off due to injury, with Chambers (23') on in his place, Ollie Saunders (24') curled a fantastic strike just agonisingly over the top far, left-hand, corner from the edge of the area.

At the other end meanwhile, Jevin Seaton (26') fired wide, prior to Reeve (29') being cautioned for delaying the restart.

The hosts created another good chance on the half-hour mark, Hammond was released in space close to goal, albeit for a timely challenge to thwart a clear shot at goal.

Gough (31') headed a low right wing cross wide of the far post, prior to Hammond's 39th minute right wing free-kick seeing Neal's smart half-volley on the turn blocked.

Needham remained lively (41'), Tommy Smith drifted onto the left-hand side only to see his effort towards the top near corner held by the keeper.

Hammond (43') soon had Needham's best chance of the opening 45 minutes, after being found free on the left-hand side the midfielder's excellent low shot was destined to find the bottom far corner until Carr dived across to tip it just wide.

The midfielder (45') saw a good low strike blocked, after a good lay off from Neal, before Hammond (45'+4') was fed into space outside the area only to blaze over.

After the interval, James Bradbrook (51') read a close range low shot across goal to his left-hand side to expertly tip it away, though Needham deservedly equalised on 56 minutes.

Excellent play saw Chambers fed by Neal, to return the favour with a smart back-heel for the striker to break into the area. Advantage was played as Neal was brought down in the box, as Myles Cowling latched onto the loose ball on the right-hand side to fire home into the top far corner, via the underside of the crossbar.

Max Appauh replaced Saunders (66'), while Needham (70') had a great chance to take the lead.

Goalscorer Cowling was found in space only to volley a well hit strike straight at Carr, ahead of Chambers (74') glancing a great left wing cross narrowly wide of the far post at close range.

Reggie Lambe replaced Joe Neal, as the substitute's 76th minute dangerous cutback flashed dangerously across goal.

Cowling (83') saw a good low strike deflected vitally wide for a corner, which saw Appauh earn another corner with some silky feet.

Hammond (84') took the resulting corner, swinging it on target, forcing Carr to launch high to his left to beat it away.

Needham's persistence paid off in the 88th minute, Seth Chambers propelled Needham just outside the play-offs on goal difference, poking home Tommy Smith's excellent squared ball - following a insightful pass from Cowling - across goal from the left-hand side to give Needham a thoroughly deserved 2-1 lead.

Cowling, was then withdrawn for Eddie Barker, as Needham head to Stourbridge on Wednesday (7:45pm).
