Kevin has signed an initial 3-year contract and brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role.
Kevin was key with the start of the Academy eight years ago and was Academy Manager for four years. During the period since he left the role Kevin has progressed up the ranks with Colchester United FC, leaving his most recent role as manager of the U23s.
Kevin has been temporary Academy Manager in the last few months after Steve Foley’s departure due to ill health and within this period the reserves won eight out of twelve games.
Speaking on the appointment Academy Director, Robert Peace said “this is fantastic news for the Academy, he has many strengths he will bring to the Academy. He was my first choice for the role, and I am delighted he has decided to join the Academy.
“Everyone within the Academy will be pleased with the appointment, his character and knowledge will help take us to the next level. I have a great team within the Academy, all striving to help young talented players develop and reach their potential. It was a big decision for Kevin to leave Colchester United, but this represents how highly regarded we are within the local game.
“Kevin will be in charge of the day-to-day coaching within the Academy and manage the Academy teams, including Needham Market Reserves, U18s and the College team who play on a Wednesday afternoon. Kevin will also work closely with first team manager Richard Wilkins, in strengthening the pathway to the first team for the Academy players.”
Kevin Horlock said “I have loved my time with Colchester United but I have always had a strong affinity with Needhan Market FC and when the opportunity arose to return it was one I could not turn down.”
