Brightlingsea 2-3 Needham Market
Influential Ingram leads Needham to victory
On the back of three successive home draws, Needham put in a good away performance and fully deserved the three points this Boxing Day.
After Luke Ingram intercepted a poor pass from Regent ‘keeper Harry Palmer, he made no mistake in slotting into the empty net with 9 minutes played.
The visitors continued their bright start and were rewarded for their dominance on 17 minutes. Goalscorer Ingram turned provider as his driving run into the penalty area found John Sands who swept home from close range. The former Kings Lynn and Boston United striker imperative in Needham’s bid to rise up the league table.
As the half progressed, the hosts then enjoyed greater spells of possession and had several chances of their own.
On 28, Ex-Needham player Aaron Condon pulled a goal back for Brightlingsea. With space on the edge of the area, his low shot found the back of net.
With the interval approaching, a glancing header from Cripps was tipped over the crossbar by Danny Gay, to ensure his side remained in front.
