Lowestoft 2-4 Needham Market
Four goals and four different scorers as Needham stop the rot
The Marketmen beat Suffolk counterparts Lowestoft Town 4-2 this evening, thanks to an inspired team performance at Crown Meadow.
Needham were the quickest out of the blocks and could have taken the lead in as early as the fourth minute. Adam Mills’ low cross found Callum Harrison, but his shot was parried by keeper Dudzinski and out for a corner.
With ten minutes played, winger Jack Simmons’ cross found the head of Mills, but his effort was off target after a flowing move.
As the half progressed, The Trawlerboys had greater spells of possession. When Danny Gay could only punch clear a Zielonka corner, Daryll Coakley cleared Hodds’ volley off the line.
The lively Mills caused Lowestoft problems and an audacious strike from distance almost left Dudzinski red faced. A fingertip save onto the post denying The Reds an opener.
However, with 29 minutes on the clock, the hosts broke the deadlock against the run of play through Zielonka. A stunning strike from distance which left Gay with no chance.
The lead was to prove short-lived, though. Gareth Heath’s inviting low cross into the penalty area found Mills, who levelled from close range on 36 minutes.

Seven minutes into the second goal half, Needham took the lead for the first time in this game. After Luke Ingram’s strike was initially saved, Heath provided a neat finish into the bottom corner from inside the penalty area.
On 64, Needham added a third goal. Having previously been denied by Dudzinski, Ingram lobbed the goalkeeper from a wide position. Whether it’ll be regarded as a cross or a shot, it was an invaluable goal in this game.
The crowd of 319 were treated to an entertaining game of football and a come-back could’ve been on the cards when McAuleys header narrowed the deficit.
79| The Marketmen clinched victory through Callum Harrison, after what appeared to be a relatively comfortable save was fumbled into the net.
