The Marketmen recorded a narrow 1-0 victory against Metropolitan Police at Bloomfields this afternoon. Its a result which leaves the guests rooted to the bottom of the table; as Needham climb to fourth place.
In truth there was little to separate the sides in the opening period, with clear cut chances few and far between.
John Sands saw his first effort wide of the post before firing over the crossbar moments later, with neither shot testing Police goalkeeper Nathan Baxter.

On 51 minutes the deadlock was broken. A good period of possession before neat play from Emmanuel Osei on the flank, picking out Luke Ingram in the penalty area. Midfielder Ingram then volleyed into the bottom corner to give The Marketmen the lead much to relief of the home supporters.
The Met might have considered themselves lucky to have all eleven players on the pitch when Robert Bartley fouled Michael Brothers. Referee Chris Francis deeming him not to be the last man and awarding a yellow card. Bartley was in the action again just minutes later when his shot was off target.
Jake Reid shot into the side netting with minutes remaining as the visitors were unable to salvage a point.
