Match report
The Marketmen welcomed Canvey Island to Bloomfields for this rearranged Ryman League fixture and those who attended were treated to an entertaining, end to end game.

It was the visitors who were the quickest out of the blocks and they soon took the lead through Martin Tuohy on 8 minutes. His effort took a big deflection from distance to loop over Danny Gay in the Needham Market goal.

Canvey continued their impressive start as Jack Simmons fired over the bar from a free kick.

George Sykes doubled Canveys advantage on 19 minutes with a terrific finish into the top corner from outside the penalty area.

Michael Brothers scored his first goal of the season as Needham halved the deficit on 27 minutes. Midfielder Luke Ingram drove into the box before cutting the ball back for Brothers to score.

Kieron Morphew drew the sides level on 42 minutes with a stunning effort from long range. It was a goal which looked to be in from the moment it left his boot. A real collectors item from Morphew and most certainly an early contender for goal of the season.

The Gulls continued to threaten and Omarr Lawson was through on goal only to see his deflected effort go out for a corner.

Half Time: Needham Market 2-2 Canvey Island

Colchester loanee Jack Curtis capped his return to the side with a goal as his impressive start to the season continues. On 53 minutes, he was on hand to score from Ingrams cut back as the hosts completed a quick turn around having been 2-0 down.

The Islanders were not to be denied and Omarr Lawsons bullet header went in off the woodwork to make the score 3-3 with 60 minutes played.

Reece Dobsons delivery into the penalty area found the head of Morphew and drew a fantastic save from Canvey keeper Conor Gough.

The woodwork came to Needhams rescue late on as both teams earned a share of the spoils.
