The Marketmen welcomed Jimmy Bullards Leatherhead to Suffolk for this Ryman Premier League encounter.
In the reverse fixture there was little to separate the sides as it finished 1-1 at Fetcham Grove. The hosts recorded a tight 2-1 victory at Bloomfields this afternoon.
After an even start, the games opening goal was scored by the guests on 19 minutes. A delightful free kick into the penalty area could only be cleared as far as Daniel Akindayindi who made no mistake from close range.
However, this lead was to prove very short-lived as The Marketmens Luke Ingram equalised with 22 minutes played. A driving run between two players before firing hard and low beyond Louis Wells in the Leatherhead goal.
Needham completed the turn around as they went ahead 5 minutes after their equaliser. After Luke Ingram was fouled, Joe Whights curling free kick was sublimely placed in the top corner.
Half time: Needham Market 2-1 Leatherhead
Into the second half and it was The Tanners who were on the front foot.
Buoyed by a double substitution, they were unfortunate not to equalise after neat link up play and the majority of the possession.
Anthony Mendy was denied by Needhams Danny Gay from long range and a frustrating afternoon was compiled for Bullards side when Richard Seixas was shown a second yellow card.
