Match report
Non League Journalist Runs Line After Referee Injury!!

The Marketmen played host to Tonbridge Angels this afternoon in the Ryman Premier League and were helpless in suffering a 2-0 defeat.

The visitors wasted no time in taking the lead after just 2 minutes through Luke Blewden. He was left with the easiest of finishes at the back post and was to prove an early blow which Needham never recovered from.

In a somewhat unusual scenario, referee Daniel Cook was hit by the ball on 22 minutes and the game required an assistant to help take over. So as a referee myself, on I came as the linesman.

Tonbridge doubled their advantage through talisman Nathan Elder 2 minutes of the delay. A fine volley from inside the penalty area left Needhams goalkeeper with little chance.

Half Time: Needham Market 0-2 Tonbridge Angels

The second half created very little in the way of chances and despite a few late corners and a dangerous free kick, Needham were unable to score a consolation.
