Match report
The Marketmen welcomed their Suffolk counterparts Lowestoft Town to Bloomfields this evening. Two second half goals via John Sands and Kem Izzet saw them to a 2-0 victory in a game where the guests will feel somewhat aggrieved at their defeat.

It was the Trawlerboys who had the better of the first half opportunities and they soon had the ball in the back of the net with just 8 minutes played. Reed was sent through on goal and scored beyond Gay, only to be denied by the linesmans flag.

Moments after this Needham had a chance of their own when Luke Ingrams flick found Sands but his shot from distance flashed wide of the post.

Despite numerous Lowestoft attacks and set pieces, The Marketmen defended resolutely as the half time whistle was blown with the game goalless.

Half Time: Needham Market 0-0 Lowestoft Town

After the interval it was clear that it was going to be one of those nights for Lowestoft as they had a second goal of the evening disallowed for offside.

Needham made two changes with Kem Izzet replacing Jack Curtis and Manny Osei replacing Michael Brothers on 52 and 58 minutes respectively.

On 65 minutes, The Marketmen scored the opening goal of the game. An initial header from John Sands was saved before he fired into the roof of the net from close range.

Buoyed by the goal and a strong crowd of 319, the hosts were now on the front foot.

Substitute Kem Izzet secured all three points on 85 minutes from the penalty spot. Sands, who had been a constant threat, was fouled in the penalty area before Izzet beat goalkeeper Glover from 12 yards.

Full Time: Needham Market 2-0 Lowestoft Town

A third successive victory and its three games without conceding as the Marketmen climb up to third in the Ryman Premier table.
