The Marketmen fell to a heavy defeat at the Harlow Arena this evening as The Hawks ran out 5-1 winners, with five different goal scorers.
It was the hosts who started the brighter and they were unfortunate not to take the lead when a shot rebounded off the post and into the arms of Danny Gay. Moments after this, Alex Read saw his header off target.
On 14 minutes the deadlock was broken as Fabian Simms scored from close range.
The visitors were forced into an early change as John Sands replaced The injured Kieran Morphew.
Gay saved well to prevent Needham from going 2-0 down on 20 minutes as Harlow looked dominant.
So it was of little surprise when they doubled their lead through Mario Noto on 33 minutes.
The Hawks added a third on 43 minutes when Joe Benjamin skipped past Jake Dye and then converted beyond Danny Gay.
In one of the few first half Needham attacks Darryl Coakley surprised most in the crowd when his cross-cum-shot nestled in the top corner just before the half time interval. Despite being second best for the first half, it gave the guests a lifeline.
Half Time: Harlow Town 3-1 Needham Market
However, any hopes of a comeback were soon dashed on the hour mark. Layne Eadie saw his first shot blocked, but made no mistake with the follow up which was thumped beyond Gay with the aid of the crossbar.
Alex Read completed the rout with a free header at the back post.
Reece Dobsons mazy run saw him upended in the penalty area. He took the resulting penalty but dragged his shot wide of the post as Needhams disappointing evening drew to a close.
