Match report
The Marketmen earned a valuable league point at Fetcham Grove on Saturday afternoon and its a result which helps to extend their impressive away record this season.

Buoyed by the arrival of Ex-Professional footballer and celebrity figure Jimmy Bullard, it was Leatherhead who started the brighter of the two sides.

The hosts enjoyed the majority of the possession and created several chances so it was of little surprise when they took the lead on 18 minutes. Keiran Morphew fouled Evander Lopes in the penalty area and Guiseppe Sole made no mistake from the resultant penalty.

Michael Brothers had the best of the few first half Needham chances. He saw his free kick over the crossbar as The Marketmen searched for an equaliser. Moments after this, Darryl Coakleys dangerous cross on 43 minutes found the boot of Brothers but his shot failed to test Joe Taylor in the Leatherhead goal.

Half Time: Leatherhead 1-0 Needham Market

Into the second half and it was Needham who were on the front foot. Leatherhead were set up with the intention of protecting their narrow one goal advantage and with the hope of a counter-attack for further goals.

On the hour mark, manager Mark Morsley made two changes with John Sands and Emmanuel Osei replacing the midfield duo of Jack Curtis and Reece Dobson.

It was Sands who drew Needham level on 77 minutes. Jake Dye picked the defenders pocket before his accurate pass found Sands. A fierce strike which was outside the penalty area marked his first goal for the club, at a time when his side needed it the most.

Sands could have scored his and Needhams second on 85 minutes but his header was off target.

Despite a late Needham onslaught, the winning goal was to prove elusive.

Full Time: Leatherhead 1-1 Needham Market

The result means Needham sit 5th in the Ryman Premier League Table, with Leatherhead in 22nd.
