Get well soon Lee

Under 15's who broke two bones in his wrist last Sunday in the Phoenix 5 aside comp. Great to see a couple of people from the senior club and committee there supporting the lads. Lets make sure we get behind ALL the teams that pull on the Needham colours.

All the best Lee.

From the under 15 squad and trainers.

Just a comment about the decision not to produce the football greenun from next season. I cannot believe this decision has been made. Was it done because sales had fallen, money was not made or problems with the printing at such short notice. I have been reading the greenun from a young lad and always looked forward to all the daily match reports and club notes from all the local teams. My weekends will never be the same again as i will have to try and read one of the daily rags which i find boring and full of doom and gloom. Is there ever any good news to report these days. Lets try and get back the greenun. Best read ever.

Sorry to see from the Wivenhoe site that Nathan has left. With Richard Carter's track record I cannot imagine that Nathan will be there all season.

More sad news on the local football scene. Old Newton stalwart and former suffolk county committee man John Thorndyke has passed away. John was a Newton man thro and thro and has been with the village club for a number of years. Known for his forthright views and opinions John was a keen local football supporter and was seen at many local games when not following the Newton teams. I Last spoke to john on Boxing Day when he told me his illness had returned. He was a regular visitor to Needhams games and was always good for a chat about football issues. Needham market f.c. would like to send our deepest sympathy to Johns family, friends and all at Old Newton Football Club.

Just received information that Ex Colchester trainee, stanway rovers and Needham market defender Ross Crouch has been killed in a road accident. Ross was brought to Needham by then manager Mark Morsley and played a number of games for us. Everyone at Needham sends their heartfelt condolences to Ross,s family, friends and team mates. He was an excellent player and a great guy to have known.

Thought our presentation night on friday went really well. Good speeches, nice food and good atmosphere. Good news that Danny Laws has signed a new 3 year contract to stay at the club after his name was being banded about for almost any managerial vacancy which arose. On to saturdays Ridgeons League presentation night. It was my first visit, and probably my last also. The evening lacked good speeches, personalities and a complete lack of anything to do with football. The top clubs in each division were each presented with a cheque and a few kind words and that was that. The rest of the evening was spent on buying draw tickets at a fiver a go, eating a meal at thirty quid a go and drinking a few beers which was okay. My uderstanding is that every club has to buy and attend this function or face a fine. Seems a bit harsh. Could we have more football chat and less entertainment next year please. Does any other club support my opinion or were you all happy with the evenings entertainment.
