The BTEC based education programme is delivered by our Partners SCL, an approved BTEC Centre. Needham Market Academy deliver the sports training. Needham Market FC Academy operates an elite football excellence & education programme aimed at male and female 16-18 year olds with a passion for sport. The Academy provides them with the best opportunity and environment to enhance their academic and football development. The Academy combines practical playing with academic achievement and life skills, providing all its student athletes with an excellent stepping stone to combine progression in football, sports coaching, physical education and sports development.

Needham Market FC Academy opened its doors in the summer of 2011 and in the following seasons the Academy has gone from strength to strength. There have been notable examples of its student athletes making their way in both the professional and semi professional arena, under the stewardship of its first class coaching staff.

The Academy is aimed at players aged 16-18 years who wish to continue their football development in pursuit of a full or part time career in the game. Alongside achieving nationally recognised qualifications, through one of two education pathways; BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport or VRQ Level 2 & 3 Diplomas in Increasing Participation in Sport. All student athletes will receive daily training involving individual and team coaching from a highly qualified coaching team including Steve Foley as Head Coach. Student athletes will receive guidance on individual football fitness, nutritional advice and a regular appraisal to monitor development both on and off the pitch.

Needham Market FC Academy promises to improve their student athlete’s fitness and football skills but cannot promise to make them a professional football player. With this in mind, it is important their student athletes be realistic and applies the same dedication to their studies.

In July 2016, a specialist agreement was signed between the University of Suffolk and Needham Market FC Academy.
